As Director of Licensing Technology Staff at Longitude, Paul brings an understanding of the IP marketplace, ecosystem, key players and trends coupled with his domain expertise in the semiconductor area. Paul drives technical patent assessments and strategy across a broad variety of technologies and markets, in collaboration with many cross-functional teams to help build and develop a broad, impactful portfolio of assets to support multiple monetization paths, to ensure the company acquires and builds IP assets that will yield the highest returns. He also coordinates resources for reverse engineering and subject matter experts as necessary in support of claim chart development and brings a track record of successful experience in patent licensing engagements.

Prior to joining Longitude, Paul worked in a senior patent licensing role with Intellectual Ventures. In this role he performed technical analysis of patent portfolios across multiple areas of technology, to drive fund strategy teams, acquisition deal managers, and licensing managers. He was responsible for preparing and overseeing the creation of customer materials and claim charts for use by licensing and legal teams across IV’s entire semiconductor patent portfolio. Paul has also worked in senior reliability, research and development and lab analysis roles in Intel and Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs (now Nokia).

Paul holds a Master of Engineering in Electronic Systems (M.Eng) from Dublin City University, and a Bachelor of Science in Material Science (B.Sc) from the University of Limerick. Paul is a member of the adjunct faculty in Dublin City University school of electronic engineering since 2014 where he lectures postgraduates students on the topics of semiconductor fabrication, equipment & systems. He is also a member of the Irish Association of Patent & Trademark Attorneys (APTMA).
